The Department of Ports and Customs – Ajman continued its activities as part of the seventh edition of the Ajman Government’s summer programme, “Our Happy Summer”, with the launch of the “Community Impact Makers” programme. Targeting children and young people aged between 5 and 16, the programme aims to promote family values and social responsibility, while fostering a spirit of cooperation, belonging and positive citizenship among participants.

The programme reflects the Department’s commitment to providing educational and interactive experiences that contribute to building children’s character and empowering them to become active and influential members of their communities. Through a range of hands-on activities and real-life simulations, participants learn how to transform ideas into community initiatives that create tangible impact.

On its first day, the programme welcomed a visit from H.E. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Department of Ports and Customs – Ajman, who was briefed on the programme’s activities and progress. He commended the efforts made in organising the programme, emphasising the importance of investing in the capabilities of children and young people, raising their awareness of their role in serving the community, and encouraging them to contribute to building its future.

The programme featured a number of topics and interactive workshops combining knowledge with practical application. These included a sustainability workshop, during which participants were introduced to the concept of renewable energy and how sunlight can be harnessed to generate power. The workshop also featured a hands-on activity in which children learned how to make solar-powered fans, enhancing experiential learning and connecting scientific concepts with practical and innovative applications.
