About Us
The Department of Ports and Customs is one of the governmental departments in the Emirate of Ajman. It was reorganized by the Amiri Decree No. (15) of the year 2011, issued on December 6, 2011. The department aims to regulate the maritime sector and manage customs in the emirate. To achieve its objectives, the department has full legal capacity to carry out all activities within its jurisdiction and is headed by His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi.
Strategy
The department operates according to a well-established vision to make Ajman Port a leading, easy, and secure trade gateway, supporting the emirate’s sectoral goal of making Ajman a logistics hub with easy mobility and supply, in line with the national indicators of the “UAE Vision 2031.” The department harnesses all resources to develop customs operations and implement legislation facilitating international trade. It emphasizes sustainability in the port facility by adopting global best practices, utilizing cutting-edge technologies, and supporting innovation across various aspects of port activities and customs operations.
Ajman Port
Under a concession agreement with the department, Hutchison Ports Ajman operates and manages Ajman Port. It is a part of Hutchison Ports, a global port operator that is one of the largest container port operators worldwide. Hutchison Ports manages a network of 53 ports in 24 countries across different continents. The concession agreement aims to sustainably develop Ajman Port to meet the highest global standards in port management and operations, providing services to customers.
